The 2010 Jonathan Leslie Memorial Scholarships

The Jonathan Leslie Memorial Fund is pleased to announce that it will again offer one or more $1,000 college scholarships in Spring 2010, as follows:

One scholarship may be awarded to a qualified graduating senior ice hockey player who resides in the Arlington Independent School District (the “Leslie Hockey Scholarship”)

A second scholarship may be awarded to a qualified graduating senior student at Arlington Martin High School (the “Leslie Martin High Scholarship”.

In order to be eligible for either Scholarship, the applicant must be a senior in high school who graduated early at the conclusion of the Fall 2009 semester or who is scheduled to graduate in Spring 2010.  Applicants for the Leslie Hockey Scholarship must be currently playing ice hockey on any organized team, such as the Arlington Wild, Arlington Martin Warriors, a house league team, or any travel team and reside in the boundaries of the Arlington Independent School District.  Applicants for the Leslie Martin High Scholarship must be enrolled as a senior at Arlington Martin High School.

Applicants for the Scholarship will be evaluated on the basis of leadership activities, academic and personal achievements, community service and personal character.  All of these factors will be considered in the evaluation of applicants, but no single factor holds priority.  The Fund reserves the right to determine which, if any, applicants are qualified to receive a Leslie Hockey Scholarship or Leslie Martin High Scholarship and it may elect to not award a Scholarship in either or both categories if no applicants meet the Scholarship criteria.
