"Score a Goal for Life ! "
Jonathan, just two weeks after his 16th birthday, died on November 3, 2001 in a tragic auto accident. Jonathan was a sophomore at Arlingtom Martin High School, and a member of the Arlington Martin Warriors Hockey Team, wearing number 44. The Jonathan Leslie Memorial Fund was established by Jane and John Leslie in 2001 to honor Jonathan's memory, and to provide scholarship assistance for graduating high school students in Arlington, Texas.
Friends and relatives of Jane and John, business associates of John, and others, have made generous contributions to Jonathan's Fund, which has allowed the Fund to award over $18,500 in scholarships and contributions to local charities since its inception in 2002.
2008 SCHOLARSHIP
The Fund is pleased to announce that it will once again award one or more $1,000 scholarships to a graduating senior student at Arlington Martin High School for 2008. Please see the link at the side of this page for information on the 2008 Scholarship.
SECOND ANNUAL COLD WAR ON ICE BENEFIT HOCKEY GAME FOR THE FUND
The Fund is also pleased to announce its continued association with the Mansfield Hockey Association, the Chad Daniell Schoarship Fund of Mansifeld, Texas and the Arlington Martin Warriors in hosting the 2nd Annual "Return of the Cold War II" Ice Hocley Benefit Game on Thursday, April 17 at the Dr. Pepper Star Center in Duncanville. OTHER ORGANIZATIONS BENEFITED BY THE FUND
The Fund, together with its founders Jane and John Leslie, make annual contributions to the Recovery Resource Council (formerly known as the Tarrant Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse) in memory of Jonathan. This annual contribution is earmarked to support the alcohol and drug awareness programs in Arlington ISD High Schools.
In the years to come, the Jonathan Fund hopes to continue to award scholarships to deserving high school seniors and to contine its support of programs designed to promote alcohol and drug awareness and spiritual development among the youth of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, all in memory of Jonathan. Your contributions to the Jonathan Leslie Memorial Fund are welcomed and appreciated.
